World's greatest vintage store-Melrose Vintage
Melrose Vintage may just be the world's greatest vintage store. Vintage stores have really taken off the past 10 years in the states and now their prices are just as much if not higher than retail! Don't even get me started on the $250 old band t-shirts. Do you know how many of those I had growing up and just gave away?!? With the soar of the popularity of wearing one of a kind fashion, the prices have now reached heights that no poor man can afford. So I have shied away from shopping at these places but still love to browse every now and then. That's what brought me to Melrose Vintage.
photo credit https://www.facebook.com/melrosevintagefirenzeLocated just steps from the Santa Maria Novella train station this is a can't miss stop that you must include on your itinerary! If you are looking for something to do in Florence that is off the beaten path, then this is for you! Melrose Vintage has an old western Americana rock n roll vibe, which I dig! She is one foxy lady! Sure, Florence has its fair share of high fashion but this is a hidden gem! You won't find high fashion here (lies-there are a few Pucci or Versace pieces mixed in) but you will find a huge selection of American western style cowboy boots, an entire section of real original military gear left over from WWII, old school Borsalino hats, levis denim, and bomber jackets; just to name a few of their thousands of items. And the best part is that this is ALL REAL VINTAGE not reproduced to look old!
In business since 1988, you can tell when you walk down the stairs to enter this place it's the real deal; it does have a dusty, creaky floor vibe going on. And their prices are very fair because I don't think the vintage hipster look is very popular in the city that is home to Gucci and Ferragamo. This is what most vintage stores in America strive to be! My dream is to go back with an empty trunk and just shop until I can't fit anything else in the trunk and ship it back to the states and then do it again. The secret will get out about this place one day but for now, take a step back in time and go get yourself some incredible finds from Melrose Vintage! Foxy lady...I think I love you! Located at Via dei Ginori 18r. They also have a second location at Via Largo Alinari 8. Open 7 days a week, find more at https://melrosevintage.business.site/
